POETRY

I hardly ever write poetry anymore. I know so many that do but the sad thing about it is it won't get published. Unless it's for college class, poetry doesn't sell anymore. Most authors that are published by big publishers will tell you this. A friend of mine wants to get her egghead boyfriend's poetry published. I kinda tried to tell her but of course no one ever listens. So I shut up. If they want to self publish and sell the books to friends and family it is their choice or they can give them for gifts and such. It is hard enough to get a novel published unless you do it yourself these days let alone poetry. A book of poems is more like a table decoration. I hate modern poetry with a vengeance.

If you write in rhyme don't even try. It is considered trite now. I have on a couple of things because I thought it fit. There are so many types of poetry but if you are in the US you will have to publish it yourself. Don't get sucked into vanity presses like poetry.com. They are there to make money and get you to buy the anthology with your poem. They almost jump through hoops to get you to buy this and buy that. It is a scam.

For me though it wasn't exactly that. I have to be in a certain mood and at the moment I have just lost interest. I guess you could say I'm uninspired.

Try using lulu.com. For ebooks you need not purchase anything and it gets your work out there. Just use social networks to promote your book. I made sales on mine and it's cost me nothing. Doen't ern a huge amount, but it's being read and the ebook bought me sunday lunch.

I already know about lulu.com

I haven't written enough poetry for a book. It's not my primary interest really. I'm writing novels but have been writing on some for at least 5 years and I need them edited. Some of my friends in the vampire community have used lulu to publish their books, fiction and non fiction. It's out there but I'm not at that point at the moment. Thanks for the great advice.
